It is an established fact that one of the biggest corporate cybersecurity risks is a company’s employees. If employees are lax at work, what is their home cybersecurity like and what can be done to tighten up domestic risk prevention and take it into the workplace? Every day I move through the world of the internet as naturally as if it were my living room. At breakfast, I use my smartphone to check the news website of my trust, to find out what is going on in the world. I check Twitter, maybe swing by Facebook. My cereal is already turning into an indefinable mash, since I am immersed into this world on my phone so deeply. A friend sends me some pictures from last night’s party on WhatsApp, and the long-awaited email by my professor with the syllabus attached finally arrived as well.

Usually, nothing happens to me. Happen, you ask? What could possibly happen to me, sitting at my breakfast table in my jammies in front of my mushy cereal? The dangers do not lurk in my apartment but in this cyber world, which has become so familiar to us. Phishing, malware, leaked account details on the internet, or data theft all have the potential to spoil your breakfast.

To make sure this does not happen to you, I give you 10 tips that will make a huge difference for your cybersecurity. If you are as lazy as I am, I have good news for you. For some of these tips, you do not even have to become active. Knowledge and caution already make a big difference. Apart from this, you should consider applying two things from the list right now. Yes, I know that procrastination is great. But good cybersecurity is even greater.
