Infinit-Securely Transfer Large Files Seamlessly

in Uncategorized

infinitAttachments, especially large attachments such as all your holiday photographs, the latest CD from your favourite band (naughty) and the like, were never, ever designed to be sent via email. If you work in a corporate environment you will notice that if you try and email an attachment over a certain size the system refuses to send it. If the system does allow it you may find that the server at the recipient’s end refuses to accept it because of its size.

There is an even bigger issue if you use smartphones mainly for your email and you have auto-download attachments set to on. It is not hard to imagine the nightmare scenario where a friend sends that new album and you suddenly wonder why you have incurred massive extra data costs because your bandwidth allowance has been gobbled up.

Which is where services such as Infinit come into their own.

Infinit is a file transfer application based on a point-to-point technology that connects both the sender’s and recipient’s computer directly. This deviates from cloud-based services like WeTransfer, YouSendIt (Hightail) and Dropbox that rely on a two-phase process through which the files must first be uploaded to the cloud before they can be downloaded by a recipient.

Twice As Fast

The technology  allows for transfers to be at least twice as fast, and up to 30 times faster, than cloud-based file sharing services. By bypassing the cloud altogether, data takes the shortest path between the sender’s and the recipient’s computing devices. As a result, the files are not stored on the cloud, and because Infinit relies on an end-to-end encryption mechanism, transfers are completely private such that only the sender and recipient can access the data. Infinit is built so that no one including Infinit’s employees, the NSA or any other third party can have access to privately transferred data.

Security is important and Infinit uses bank-level encryption algorithms such as AES-256 and RSA 2048 to ensure bullet-proof security.

Pause And Resume

Additionally, Infinit’s smart engine is able to detect when a user shuts down his or her computer, kills the mobile application or simply disconnects from the Internet. Rather than canceling transfers as other services do, Infinit just pauses and resumes them automatically when the user comes back online.

Edit: I must confess to being more than impressed with the customer service. An email to Infinit support was answered within an hour. That takes some beating.

As you would expect Infinit is multi-platform on Mac, Windows, Android and IoS. The pricing chart is below.
